Abstract Optimization of insulation on subsea oil and gas equipment can lead to significant cost weight reduction. A judicious combination commercially available Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software with evolutionary optimization algorithms efficiently serve this purpose. In the present study, a gate valve has been presented due emphasis methodology adapted. parameterized model several dimensions interest chosen for numerical experiment. Of various Design Experiment (DOE) techniques, Optimal Space Filling (OSF) method considered generating samples owing its robustness associated computational cost. The in systems is usually supposed satisfy two contradicting constraints, it must be ensured that temperature production fluid remains above Hydrate Formation Temperature (HFT) at same time cannot too high, as create structural damage seals High Pressure (HPHT) applications. sample cases are run simultaneously cluster response surface created using genetic aggregation those generated by OSF. resulting finally subjected calculus based/gradient based methods. investigation, performed NonLinear Programming Quadratic Lagrangian (NLPQL) Adaptive Single Objective (ASO) Methods. results obtained show almost thirds effectively removed without compromising thermal efficiency system. Similar savings have witnessed other cases/subsea geometries authors aware of. case truly representative wide class applications proposed suitably adjusted customer specific requirements provide suitable results.
